Earth Day 2017

Saturday 22 April is Earth Day – a global event created to raise awareness and support environmental protection. After witnessing the damaging effects of a massive oil spill in California during the late 1960s, founder Gaylord Nelson, a U.S. Senator from Wisconsin, decided to take action by raising awareness amongst his fellow Americans. Today, almost 50 years down the line, Earth Day continues to educate communities about our fragile planet across the world.

We all need to do our bit to look after this planet of ours. By making small changes to your everyday lifestyle, you can help to keep it green for future generations. Here’s how:

  • Eat seasonally. Seasonal fruits and veg not only taste better, but they also don’t have to be shipped from across the globe to end up on your plate.
  • Meatless Mondays. According to the Earth Day Network, the meat industry generates almost a fifth of man-made greenhouse gas emissions. And Meatless Mondays don’t have to be a bore – check out our delicious Artichoke and Asparagus inspired dishes.
  • Skip the straw. Straws aren’t recyclable and are often mistaken by animals for food. So rather just skip the straw and enjoy your beverages straight from the glass.
